AR-15 loads with Sims Deresonator
« on: March 15, 2011, 09:41:58 AM »
I finally got the stuff I needed to reload my own stuff, so I did my first round of accuracy testing to see what I could get the gun to do.  I had the Sims Barrel Deresonator on there, and someone had asked about the effects of that, so I moved it around on the barrel to get some data for it, too.  The group sizes shown below are center to center 5 shot groups at 100 yards from prone with rifle supported with a coat.  The powder I bought was Accurate 2460, and the bullets are Speer soft point in 70 grains and Hornady Varmint in 60 grains.  The Sims In and Sims Out denote the location on the barrel of the deresonator: in was next to sight post, and out was next to flash hider, and the Best 3 is the best 3 shots of the 5 shot group. My rifle is a Bravo Company 16" mid length all stock.

Some of the loads are sub-MOA, and all of them are minute of coyote!

Looks like the deresonator definitely makes a difference, thanks for posting your results.  I ordered 2 last night, so amazing timing with the thread!

Yeah, I was surprised at the difference, because a 16" barrel only allowed me to move it about 4 or 5 inches.

Oh, it was standard size.  It's tight, but it works.  I had to spray CLP on the barrel to get it to slide in and out for this round of groups.
