Leupold mark 4
« on: March 20, 2011, 02:25:37 PM »
Just wondering if anyone uses one of these scopes. Thinking of switching to them from my conquest scopes, need more moa's for long range shooting.

I have one, they are good scopes.....not the best, but proven to be good enough. if you need more elevation you could go canted base.....a conquest is already a nice scope.

I have shot them next to my vx3 LR and they seem about the same to me. I just ordered another vx3 LR for one of my new rifles.

Yeah I was checking out the vx3's also. Conquest only has 45 moa, mark 4 has 70, and vx3 has 94. All these are on the 6.5-20x50 model

Yep 94 On some of there vx3's you can get up to 115. But the 6.5-20 and 8.5-25 have the 94. I got the 8.5-25 this will be the second one I have and I really like them. I am having this new one built with a Leupold dot retical. I have always shot very well with the dots. I like the way the Leupold dot tapers into the dot. Easy to find the dot and easy to focus on longer range shots.

Also I just grabbed my 2011 Leupold book "I have friends at Leupold" :IBCOOL: Some of the mark4's in the 6.5-20 only have 70 and the others 100. I will send you my phone number and if you have any questions. Just give me a call and I can give you all the details on the scopes and the other Leupold products. The most windage adjustment on any leupold scope is the 4.5-14x50 at 125.

That conquest in a set of 20moa rings is good to 1500 yds in my 6.5-06

If this is for your sendero, I like the looks of a rail on a heavy gun so I'd go vx3 6.5-20 along with a 20 moa rail. You'll have enough down to get a 100 yard zero if that's what you want and enough up to go as far as that RUM is capable of.

Bought the mark 4 today, hopefully going with the 40 moa base and 200 yard zero. If it works I'll be good a little over 2k :IBCOOL:

I'm partial to the VX-7 because I prefer a more traditional look than the modern high tech look.  My 3.5-14 has a 60 MOA adjustment range.  Right now it's sighted in around the middle of the adjustment range because I forgot to bottom it out before mounting it - I'll be remounting it this summer.

2000 yards though. . .  :yike:

when these scopes say 70 moa is that 70 in either direction or 35?

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

I have  a Mk 4 that I bought just because it was a good deal. Honestly, I wouldn't buy another one. The VX-3 scopes are just as good optically to my eyes. If I need more elevation, I'll just put a canted base or use Burris Signature rings with the inserts.
