Can't wait to see what people have to say about this one, I've tried corn and alfalfa. The only thing that has worked for me in the past is apples, they love them but so do the elk and they seem to get to them first. One time I put down some apples and got into my stand, I swear not 5 minutes later a cow and calf came in directly to the pile and ate the whole pile.

ya i have tried apples before and had a four point elk eat the whole pile in 11 minutes and it was a big pile, but it is hard to get a hold of apples without spending a decent amount for them. how does the alfalfa work on elk?

The alfalfa didn't work very well at all, I was suprised. I tried it on the west side in an area that doesn't get snow very often so maby that was the reason, just too much native vegetation for them?

what is wet cob?

Buy it at a feed store, it is a combination of corn, oats and barley grain. If you order it wet, it will have molasses in it.

You shouldn't have a problem getting apples even now. I have seen people selling them right now so you shouldn't have a problem getting them earlier in the year.  I guess it's a matter of knowing where to look.
