:yike: Pretty much the same experience as everyone else.  I need to make a trip up to Deer Park!

Deer park is WORSE.

You need to start one in the area....  or at least someone does.

You know that you are going to a decent shop when you talk about brands they don't carry and they still have good things to say about them in addition to their own.  They may point out flaws, but will also point out flaws in their own product lines.  Archery seems to evolve very quickly into clique mentality with many folks, which is part of the problem related to entry for beginners.  It can turn a lot of people off, myself included.  You are either part of the clique or viewed as a outsider, and looked down upon.  Not a good business plan in the long run

I have never been to SVA, but after these posts I won't be. Have been to Whitetail plus a couple of times. Great experiences both.
I miss Ed at the general store. Haven't been back in there since he left.

LOL, I hope you weren't referring to me! :bash:

I have been watching this thread closely and wasnt going to weigh in, BUT I feel maybe I should. :bdid:

I will start with saying that I am good friends with the folks from SVA, Whitetail plus and Camo'd arrow.

SVA: I have been friends with Josh at SVA for a long time. We have had our differences along the way but he is a heck of an archery technician! I am not going to say they always have perfect service but they are great technicians! I shoot PSE and although he isn't a big fan and may try to sell me a Hoyt or Bowtech every time im in there, He has no problem throwing my bow in his press and working on it for me. :)

Whitetail Plus: Greg is a great guy and I can still say that even after working for him for several years. They have great service and are fun to sit around with and run your jaw in the shop. They are the only guys who stock PSE's in the area and are just across the street from me so I end up slumming in there pretty regularly.

Camo'd:  Red is Awesome! She gave me my first bow, taught me to shoot and helped me kill my first deer! Like SVA Camo'd arrow are big hoyt fans (with good reason)
Red has been in this sport a long time and knows her stuff! She also spent alot of time driving Miller and myself to archery shoots when we were younger.

I have no issues with having ANY of these folks working on my gear.
One shop may be for you and one shop may not, but I would say they are all good shops and good people! :twocents:

Yeah same here they forget the promises they make to you when you buy a bow. Won't be going back. Evergreen is a great range in Spokane for a fraction of the cost.

Lots of good people in the world and not so good.  Don't even get me started on the guy down by Puyallup...  I bought a bow there once and came back a couple days later wanting to tune it...  he wanted to charge me $35....

You can be nicest person in the world, but you have terrible service and I'm not spending a dime there.  I got a dozen arrows at Deer Park first time I ever went in there and I regret that I ever gave him a dime to this day....

Started to get into archery when SVA totally turned me off.  Shameful and I agree.

I'm sorry to say that I agree with those that describe most archery shops in a negetive light.  I am a 22 year archery hunter and absolutely love the sport.  I have bought several bows over the years and have had some good and bad experiences in most of the shops being discussed here.  I now live on the wet side and have to work with Skookum and Rainer and both frustrate me ALMOST every time I walk in.  It like going in to "Cheers",  as long as everybody knows your name  - it is a great place to be.  If they don't you are ignored or almost made to feel unwelcome.

I will say that it does depend on who is running the shop at the time AND if you actually bought your bow from them.

3 years ago when I first got into archery me and my cousin were shooting at SVA indoor range. the string that ties the peep sight got loose on my cousins bow and we asked if he can help tie it ( we were new at the time and were just shooting to get better). The guy there said that if we want him to tie it its going to be $5 because he has to set the bow on the machine. With not enough cash we left and went to sportsman warehouse (wholesale sports now) and Allen there tied it on for us with no charge. He just said little things like this he is not going to charge. Took him about a minute to get it done for us. I feel like they favor guys who spend big bucks in their shop.

I called SVA and Asked for a new string for my brother's Diamond Iceman. The guy I talked to said he has one and for us to bring our bow in. We did last saturday and when we got there he said he doesn't have those cause those bow's don't sell good so he doesn't have their strings. It took him 8 months to sell 1 iceman bow and just left me hangin as if my brother's bow was worthless. This Disappointed me because I wouldn't have drove out there if he would've just said he did not have one. It made things worse when they made me feel like they did not really want to help me. I shouldn't be on here bashin them i'm sure they're good at what they do but customer service needs to be worked on. I just wanted to share my horrible experiences I've had there and Just wondered if anyone had similar experiences there. Thanks for the input guys.

I'm looking for a new archery range to go sight my bow at. If anyone knows any good places besides SVA let me know! Thanks guys!
