Congrats on the Coues Deer tag, first pointer might be heading for AZ for some action....  lol Just kidding,  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:   Might be beneficial to post where you got drawn for starters...

 :chuckle: ...yeah, oops.  I thought you mispelled in the title and just read the posts.  Well, my information about AZ won't do you any good - sorry about that. I looked at "recent unread posts" or whatever and not the section it was in.

Assuming you meant unit 181 now.

there is some bear in the 181 unit but most of the land is private.  the game department owns some land in the Pintler which is in the bottom of George creek and some the Shumaker on the breaks of the Grande Ronde.  If you are wanting to archery hunt neither one of those has much cover lots of open country.  Most of the timbered land is private. 
"Shoot the spike".  It's much easier to pack out!

I've found most of the State land and have received permission on the top farm areas for bird hunting however I haven't been down to the southwest area of the unit to find out what it looks like or who the land owners are.

Doing a little scouting mission here in a few minutes. Wish me luck.
