Refinishing Limbs...
« on: March 25, 2011, 09:20:29 PM »
I took a Hoyt Maxxis 31 on trade that had a limb splintering.  Guy I got it from made good and paid me for another set of limbs.  I wasn't too picky and didn't make him buy brand new ones but found a set of Carbon Matrix demo limbs that are like new.  They are the same limbs and will work fine but they do have writing all over them on the inside of the limbs.  If you ever looked at the Carbin Matrix Demos you know what I am talking about.

Any ideas on refinishing them?  I took the splintered limb and lightly sanded the lettering off and then put a real light coat of Tru-Oil gun finish on it.  It is too shiny.  The factory black finish Hoyt puts on is kind of a matte finish.

Thanks for any tips!

Check out northwest hydroprint in aberdeen. They can do whatever you want. I almost got my maxxis dipped in their skulls camo. The antler camo is pretty sweet too. Price isn't that bad either.

I was actually looking at their site.  $75 for a set of limbs.  My riser is dipped in Predator camo and looks really sweet.  I was thinking it would look really sweet to have the limbs match.  I was also just checking out home dip kits.  Those are a hundred bucks but I think you get enough to do a lot of dips.

Id leave the demo lettering on there I think it looks cool. I owned a demo alphamax for awhile. I would just duracoat them matt black.

I took the splintered limb and lightly sanded the lettering off and then painted it with a flat black bumper paint on one side.  It does not look near as flat or matte as the Hoyt finish.

For now I am shooting the new limbs with the demo lettering.  Thinking of buying a home hydro graphics kit and trying that.
