We are headed out this morning as well
, long drive and what looks to be less than great turkey hunting weather
. Hopefully all goes well for everyone heading out, we got the right gear and hopefully the right attitudes and two BIG bags of victory M&Ms
, I just hope they stay victory M&Ms and do not turn into wet/misery M&Ms
. Good luck and be safe, and bring on the pictures!

We will be giving them hell in the morning. The weather finally got nice today down here. I think it is the first time I have seen the sun in 6 months. My 7 year old is jacked to kill one so hopefully we find a bird or two. Good luck to everyone.

No youth hunt for us this year. Although Cody wanted to hunt we couldn't fit it into the schedule.,.. Opening weekend is a different story.

I hope there were some successful hunters out there. The only turkeys I saw were on private property. Did not hear a thing.. Oh I did manage to get stuck and have a tree rip my front fender off..

Went at it hard this weekend with the 7 y/o. Great day on Saturday, birds gobbled all day. Had a shot at about 0700 and missed. Had another Tom work his way in to about 10 ft behind us and put and run. Today. The birds were definetly in a different mood, gobbled alot first thing and then shut up all day. 13 hours of no responses at many places was too long for dad.. She wanted to stay out and get the tom "she missed" but, Ide had enough. Back at er again in a few weeks.

We got two to come in. He missed the first and biggest at 10 yards, but nailed this one at 15. Definitely was not an easy hunt this year. Did see lots of birds, just not real responsive yet.

Had a chance to take my younger brother out this weekend, had some good luck and bad luck at times. First morning barely left the truck going out blind ran into several birds and brought them within 20 yards on a line. They started to slowly work away when his shot went high
, can't blame him though we all miss at times but it did set him up for a few jokes the rest of the weekend. Then today we ran into a nice long beard but from where he was sitting he couldn't see him and I could see him plain as day in full strut, but i guess that's why its called hunting and not killing. The best part is that he had a blast and so did I, and I think I've got him hooked on chasin gobblers!
