Need Arrow Help
« on: May 24, 2008, 08:07:23 PM »
Guys,
Bought a new bow that will be here on tues  :IBCOOL: and have been out of the archery loop for awhile. I've killed many deer and elk with the old Pearson Spoiler Plus shooting XX75 2213's but have no clue to the new carbon arrows. My bow is 70 lbs 29 in draw. What size arrow do I shoot in the carbons, I have no clue anymore? :dunno: Don't want to break the bank either.

Any ideas? I see a thread that talks up the Easton axis

Any help would be appreciated  :chuckle:

At your draw length and poundage you'll want a 340 spine arrow.   The easton axis shafts are a great shaft and probably the best bang for your buck! (IMO) The new smaller diameter shafts with the hidden inserts create great strenght and penetration.  If you want to spend a little more go with the full metal jackets they are a great shaft as well.  Anyways just my  :twocents:

Thanks Guys  :chuckle: How does the numbering system work on the carbons? 340 means what?

It is the amount of deflection the shaft has...  So in easton and beman's case the smaller the number the stiffer the shaft is, like 340 or 300, and the bigger the number the weaker the spine of the shaft is such as a 500 spine which has a weak deflection point made for lower poundage bows. Hope this makes sense?! haha  :chuckle:
