They aren't.  They have gripper teeth is all, and danger of infection I suppose.  I found one cross though and that worries me.  I lost at least two birds last year to rattlesnake bite, so am always on the look out. They need to leave the eggs and chicks alone and focus onthe mouse, but they'll eat what they can find.

YES there is alot of truth to that.  They are hell on Rattlers.  One of their biggest enemies.  One reason I really like to have a few Bulls around.

I would keep em around too. I thought they kept the rattlers in check.

Great pics man, I'm a big fan of Bull Snakes...  Sure cool how they try to imitate a rattler though when they get coiled and rattle their tail... Their HISS is pretty intimidating to! ;)

I am thinking about trying to get some cool rattler photos Friday.  It was fish, snakes, or shrooms or yard work for the day.  Last day off I have until our big fish trip.

I'll see if I can get pics up of the one Lilly encountered while crawling in after an egg.  I'm really proud of her composure.  I'm a seasoned snake guy and I would have been cussin up a storm.

The snake was coiled half way right in front of the egg when Lilly went to crawl in to get the egg.  She got me and I of course grabbed the camera and pistol in short order.  I snapped a couple of him sneaking away, then put on inthe head.  Sorry snake lovers.  This one had to be sacrificed, I thought my child was in danger. ;)  Damn thing needed to leave my eggs alone.

$20 per egg on this species, or about $200 per bird.
