« on: April 10, 2011, 01:48:38 PM »
So question for the masses, 5 day (give or take) backpack elk hunt in Sept. how much clothes do u bring? do you bring base layers and pants separate for the hike in and out and carry camo gear separate or just one set of clothes for the whole trip? I'm trying to upgrade some stuff and was curious on what you all do?

I bring one pair of pants and 2 tops ( camo) I like the Cabelas micro tex because light weight, dries quickly and realativly warm if wearing a base layer. Hunting clothes in plastic bags with local  foilage. Can wear Micro-tex it from temps into the 80's (possibility early season)  to the low 20's. I bring a rain wear top. 2 extra poly t shirts, stocking cap, one pair base layers ( top, bottoms),  undies,  wool socks, flip flops, might throw in a puff vest 2 if last week of Sept. Probably get by with less.

I hike in wearing pair of nylon runner's shorts and poly t shirt. Can wash both items of clothing and dries quickly. I try and minimize sweating in clothes I will be hunting in.

Take an extra change. Prepare for some possible nasty weather as I got dumped on with 4 inches north of the park one archery season. Also if the temps are hot you may perspire quite a bit so having a change of base layer is important for scent control. Unless you are way back you might have want to few extra clothes in your vehicle. :twocents:
