I can tell you the sturgeon seem to enjoy it

Rockfish and lingcod seem to like it.  I use to mix herring, shrimp and squid oil together and add a shot of WD-40 into it and they would hit that when everything else wouldnt work.  I also have caught steelhead with the same concoction by soaking a chunk of yarn behind a spin-n-glow.

Ah yes wd-40 one of it's many, many uses...

Worked great, couldn't even hear the lures squeek anymore

I've used it on Herring while Salmon fishing works like a charm

i mostly fish single barbless no bait areas and scents are not allowed in those areas.

seriously, i've never tried it, but a great question and topic for talk.

I use scent on my flies sometimes but don't consider WD a scent it's an anti-rust deterrent for my barbless hooks! hahahahaha
