What trail Camera should I Buy?

I have two of the Tasco's that you can get for $40 each, and they work just fine for daytime pictures, but you'll be disappointed with the night pictures. The flash just doesn't have enough range. Mine have been working out pretty well for me though, because I have them in locations (bedding areas) where most of the activity is during the day.

I also have two Moultrie D40's and they work very well. The only downside is the size and they take 6 D batteries so they're pretty heavy. You'll get about 6 to 8 weeks out of the batteries which isn't bad. You can get the D50 at Cabelas for $80 (it's the same as the D40's I have except 5 megapixels rather than 4).

i have 3 and really like them. the animals just need to be close to the cams at night and they take great pics. i vote cheapo tasco

So you have the cheap tascos?  I saw your bull pics and if those are from a cheap tasco then I think I may pick up a couple of them.  That way I can have then in different areas and if the bears or theifs get a hold of one then I still have another.  I'm not looking for high quality stuff, just something that will tell me if there are good bucks in the area.  From the looks of it your cheapos will be plenty good enough.

How long is the battery life on the tascos?

I have bought cheep camera's before and they barley last a season and pictures are not that great.  I now have two of the cudde back 3.0 flash camera's and they are great.  Battery life is great, easy to run and have lasted for 3 seasons so far.

Most $40-$70 cameras I have had last 1-2 seasons. For a Cuddeback to be more cost effective it would need to last 4-5 years minimum without breaking, getting stolen or destroyed by a bear. Just one loss would really hurt the cost effectiveness....That being said I do like Cuddeback and even bought one this year....and I worry about it every day... especially after my two $200 bushnells crapped out on me so quickly.

3 weeks 450 pics, died the day before we picked them.
