beaver for bait?

A friend of mine killed a couple beavers damming culverts on his property in oregon.  He said I could have the carcus for a quinalt bear hunt.  My question is have any of you used beavers at a bait site and if so how did you do it.  Do I need the hide too?  The bait sites are baited with bread syrup and such but I noticed the big bears are extremely random, was hoping something such as a beaver would bring them in.  Any advice welcome.

Since bait can only be used on the Reservation, I have only seen it done with a beaver in Canada.  Stinky rotten beaver was hung about 7' up a tree.  No real oppinion as to whether it was better than any other baited stand.  All depends on what Boo-Boo is hungry for.

Great bear bait. I know Wyco would use skinned beaver to attract bear to their pellet barrels during the spring to get em started on cambium pellets. Cougar and bobby's love em too.

It is probably one of the best items to fire up a bear bait.  They will travel miles to get to it!  Skinned or furred, either way works, just make sure it's legal to leave the hide on.  In Idaho you have to remove the hide.  I imagine since your on teh reservation you'll need to double check their rules and see what they require.  They are outstanding and generally the bears will make a beeline to the beaver at the bait.  I like to hang them up so the tip of the tail is just barely at the 6 foot level.

You can seach for beaver bait station in the trail cam section. Last year there was an ongoing post that had lots of bears and bobby hitting his bait. I don't remember where he was location wise.
