I have a blind that I built 14 years ago it is on public land.  We just took the 25th gobbler out of it this year!  It is one of my favorite spots in the world.
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

We were sitting in the blind..pretty slow and kind of windy.  We had my stuffer at 35 yards out in front.  We had heard a gobble but was hard to locate due to wind.  I caught movement out to the right coming out of the sky..I thought it was a roosted tom flying down to my stuffer.  So I grabbed gun and look up to see and hear this golden eagle just thump my hen..He grabs here and starts beating his wings and lifts here 10' up in the air.  I didn't know what to do..so I jumped up and yelled and he dropped her.  I looked like  :yike:  It was really cool and I began to wonder how many turkeys get thumped every year..LOL.  Wish I had it on video.

That's funny Yelp. Opening morning i was working a flock of 8 to 10 easterns they were about 200 yrds out and the flock jumped up and flew off seconds later a bold eagle swooped down in the area the turkeys flew from. They do get a few.
If it flies it dies.

YEAH COOL STORY ... This is why I love turkey hunting ..You see so much ... Two years ago I was hunting up off ADDY Gifford my two boys and I we had this bird going off like mad ... we see him coming in full strut and I tell my boys to get ready .. all the sudden he shuts up and no response from him again .. all the sudden I see feathers blowing in the wind and coming to us I tell my son get Ready here he is .. something was very wrong here ..The bird was facing upside down and moving I am like what the hell is up here and as it gets to us I NOTICED A COYOTE COMING UP BEHIND IT ....We were so involved in the moment that we never realized the turkey was in the coyotes mouth.... the other one was just behind his mate .. Never had time to shoot and I HAVE HOURS OF VIDEO AND THIS TIME WE LEFT IT IN THE TRUCK..yOU COULD NOT EVEN SEE THE COYOTE BECAUSE THE TURKEY COMPLETELY COVERED IT ......

Don't kid your self they get more then a few turkeys. They are very hard on the turkey population in areas that have them. Glad you guys have been having some luck. I have been a bum, I have only went out the 2 times this year. I have been getting ready for my other hunts and my month long hunting quest that starts on Tuesday :IBCOOL:

Thanks for sharing the story yelp...

I think there are real heavy predator impacts on turkeys now that most predators have learned how to hunt them. We have coyotes, ravens, magpies, hawks, owls, eagles, skunks, raccoons, feral dogs and cats all getting their share.  :twocents:

Yelp,

A similar experience happened to my son on the youth opener.  It was a tough two days for him with a bow and when he finally thought he might have a chance a golden eagle fell out of the sky and landed on the back of a turkey and all the rest took to the air pront.  At first it was so fast we weren't sure what happened until about 30' away this eagle was flapping and eating this turkey alive.

Great job yelp and his crew it was nice seeing you all so.
As every on knows that Yelp and I were in a compaction for the biggest bird on the 1st tag. I still haven't pull the trigger yet past on a few but I am not going to shot a small one.
Yelp called me yesterday and told me the story about the 2 bearded jake and asked if this counted? I kind of felt bad for him so he still have a chance to beat me so I agreed for him to stay in the compaction. Good luck Yelp talk with ya so.
