What the hell.  You got sun?  I looked out the window at 4:00 and it was raining and looked like dark clouds on the horizon, so I skipped the opener.   :bash:   I am definitely a fair weather turkey hunter.

Great work.

4:25am Coffee and Copenhagen. Life seems better now, I even fell like cleaning a bird today. :hello: BTW, there isn't the number of birds w/I hunt this year. The normal fields you see them in ain't there, but there are lots of coyotes :bash:

hard hunt today. Birds came out of the tree and went the other way :bash: Hunted all day, no gobbles. Doesn't seem to be a lot of birds this year where I hunt. The toms weren't even strutting for the hens, just feeding along w/them. Must have been the rain.

Heard a few more gobbles this morning around the valley, the birds I set up on went the other way :bash: All gobbling stopped once out of the tree. Taking a break today to help Dad around the farm. BTW, the KEY-KEY lost hen call has been working I used it opening morning, called in several hens yesterday and 3 hens this morning. To bad they didn't have a tom with them.

No gobbles tonight :dunno: Might head to a buddy's place in the morning. I can set up on his place but the turkeys are on another property. Maybe w/the decoys I can make it work.

Will it did pay off.The toms few out in the field, but the hens took them other way :bash: 27 degrees I froze my a$$ off. Sat until 9:30. Went and visited a friend and was back at 3PM. Put the decoys out and fell asleep woke up to a gobble at 4:45 and two nice toms came into the field w/one hen. I called and they gobbled there heads off. The hen came into my decoys but the tom stayed out in the field. When she yelped they came in. She stayed at the fence line at 20 yds, the toms crossed at 50 yds. I took him at 50 yds. Nice 18 lb bird w/a 10" beard. I will post pictures soon. BTW, pattern your gun, I knew my gun was dead on at that yardage. ;)

Man that is some great white coloring on that bird! I want to shoot one of those real white ones one day. For now I will just be happy to get whatever I can get in range. So far a pretty tough year, I hope it gets better for folks who get out a little later. Nice work Ben.

Got home this morning at 3:45am. Had dinner w/my daughter and sister in law in Spokane. I dropped my daughter off at Cheney and hit the road about 8:45 last night. Took HWY 18 and the I-5 ramp was closed and the HWY 16 ramp was closed. What a mess, one thing nice it was 1:45 am and no traffic. Here some pictures. BTW, I need to buy a good camera. :bash:

These are toms

The 5 birds on the right are toms

Bird #1 right side, 8" beard

Bird #2 10" beard
