my girls and i are staying at sun lakes resort middle of june and wondering if anyone has any tips for fishing there?thanks

Fish at blue lake just down the road.
Just kidding, there will be tons of PWCs on Sunlakes, but if you can get to the leftside (southside?) there is a large are where you can get away from the crowds and fish from shore.

I camped and fished there as a kid. I remember catching lots of nice perch. Rowboat+jig/worm= fish on. Good luck.

Just make sure you go to Costco and buy a pallet of Mosquito repellent.

Are the raccoons still bad there? They were a pain a few years ago when I camped there last. It'll be hot in June.

Yes there will be other people, PWC, mosquitoes, snakes, raccoons, goose droppings, poison oak and probably high temperatures and some wind. But it will still be more fun than staying home. Bump this thread a few days before you head out and maybe we can give you some fishing reports. Banks Lake is just up the hill and the folks at Big Wally's could probably head you in the right direction to put the girls on some panfish. If you rent a boat don't forget the PFDs. I will send you some Blue and Park lake tips in a PM.

Definatley allot of goose poop, we ended up with a bad case of swimmers itch. Lots of deer, we did not have problems with racoons though. Thunderstorms mad things a little interesting, lol.
There are so many PWCs and skiers I can't imagine trying the fish in a small boat. Blue down the road has better fishing, banks up the road might also produce more fish.

Dry Falls used to be really good fishing.  We used to stay at Sun Lakes State Park and then take the short drive up to Dry Falls and put in the row boat and troll flatfish around and catch browns and rainbows.  This was back in the 80's though and I've heard the fishing has gone downhill latlely......but maybe it's worth a try again.

Dry Falls is single barbless no bait.
The Sun Lakes chain area is one of the most fun areas in the state to spend a weekend in the sun kicking back and doing some fishing. All those lakes along there have fish in them. Park Lake, the one at Sun Lakes Resort and Sun Lakes state park will likely be loaded with planters still at that time and should be a ton of fun to fish. Blue Lake up the road seems to get the most boat traffic.
Dry Falls gets pounded with fly fishermen but is still a cool place to fish as long as you don't want to use bait. There's a little lake on the way in to Dry Falls, I think it's called Perch Lake, it also has fish.
Yes there's racoons and a fair amount of buzzworms. Awesome scenery and fun times though.
I've seen the northern lights from sun lakes state park.

We are also camping there in August (hotter than heck), and will be doing fishing and waterskiing a bit. Hopefully the wife does not freak out with the mosquitos, and no way am I going to mention the swimmers itch....
Snakes will be good, cause the kids and I can go catch some like last year in Brewster.
Has anyone fished all the little ponds for bass at all? Smallies and largies I imagine.
Really looking forward to this vacation.
