Sorry, FC... I have done my research and don't need a lesson. This is one of those topics where one must agree to disagree.GM has hung on to the 350 (5.7), 327(5.3), etc for decades and decades.. "redesigning from the crank up in not an accurate term".. its just the addition of fuel injection, cam timiing, etc that all maufacturers have done along with probably some better materials.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.
Are you familiar with your metric to inch conversions? Are you really debating 0.025? I will have to agree with you about your bail out comment though.
Ok, all semantic arguments aside, heres an objective comment: The problem that I have with the newer Chevys (other than the bailout thing) is that the extensive use of plastics makes them feel cheesy. The huge chrome on the sides of the bumpers that is butt ugly is a pretty flimsy piece of metal. The door lock inserts that have been the same forever have a tendency to fall out (both my 99 and 05 fall out every so often. It just seems like by 60k miles, all the parts that you use often (radio buttons, door panels, door handles, trim pieces around the windows etc.) are broken on the Chevrolets. Ford just seems to be sturdier and have better fit and finish. (and about $7500 more...)

DickI was really going to let this go and never comment here again. But this just cracks me up. And boy isn't it the truth.

There is however a reason why Silverado is Motor Trend Truck of the Year! Motor Trend ratings lost all credibility with that rating. They rated the Chevy Volt number one too.Of course it had nothing to do with the Obama administration spending billions of our tax dollars bailing them out. The GM auto unions in retrun donated millions of union dues to the Dem party and Obama. GM uses our money to bulid plants in Mexico and China. What a racket! No thanksEvery GM product I have owned has been unreliable.Just had a 2010 chevy work truck crap out with less than 15,000 miles. Transmission is shot. Replaced under warrantyAll my Toyotas have ran over 200,000 miles with only oil changes and brakes replaced. ZERO problems. All bulit here in the US with non Dem labor

Yes, the 350 is different than the 5.7... it has grown and evolved over time.. but the same overall displacement albeit with new cams, injectors, etc.. have evolved..

Ummmm no, semantics has nothing to do with it. The biggest similarities between the current gen GM V8's and the old is that they are both made from metal and they are both internal combustion engines but after they diverge in their design so drastically that nothing from one motor fits the other. The same overall displacement? Would you prefer a 20 liter? 5-6 liter displacement engines generally hit the hp to mpg sweet spot to work well in half ton trucks and full sized sedans. Next you are going to tell us that the Ford 4.6l is almost the same thing as the GM 4.8l
