what caliber

thanks to everyone that has giving me advice. well now i don't know what caliber to use. i'm confess what one to use now 270,308,30.06, like i said earleir ill be hunting on the trinity trail head. and i'll be hiking alot to get to the hunting spot. does anyone have advice for me. thank for you time.

A .30-06 can effectively kill anything on the continent and was used by the Marines for years as a sniper rifle. My Rem. 700 classic is almost 40 years old, looks like it's new, and every animal I've shot with it fell where they stood. That's my vote.

Went through the same thing last year.  Purchased a .300 WSM after all the research.  I was pretty set on the 30-06 for most part.  I am glad that I have the .300 now.  I have shot side by side with someone with a 30-06 and hands down the .300 is flatter, longer and more versatile.

Any of those three will do just fine. There really is not much difference and I guarantee a bear won't know the difference.

   I have a .270 and .30-06 (and .300 WSM) and I used all of them to kill deer, elk and bears.  One thing that they had in common was that all the animals that I shot with them were equally dead.

I haven't used a .308 but it's a great rifle and I'm sure that it would not be an issue.  Although, it might be the last one I'd choose.  Personal preference - probably first one that someone else might choose.

id go with the 30/06 to. Got one to and a 7wsm like it was said before the bear wont know the difference.  /06 bullets are easy to find to.

All three ae good; since I had load I stay away from the WSMs they are a bitch to reload. Given a choice of the the in order the would be 30-06, 270 and then .308.

Black bears aren't that big,and they aren't hard to kill. Any of the calibers you mentioned will work fine.

Shot placement is what you need to be concerned with. Shoot them in the vitals with a .243 and they'll die in a hurry. Shoot them in the guts with a .338 and you'll be chasing them all over the country.

I shot my 1st and only bear w/ a 30-06. Just make sure you buy the right cartridge and not cheapo sale ones.
