Skyval,  I could not find the other post.  you asked about mine here it is.
It was taken in 1972  it was before there was a Desert A area.  Back when the Sand Dunes were real.  It was taken about 1 mile SW of Westlake Marina.  He and two of his friends walked right up to our Duck Blind on opening day.  First year I ever bought a deer tag.  He fell to a Browning SxS 20 gauge with a load of buckshot at about 15 feet.  Not bad for a 14 year olds first Deer.

Nice buck! A lot better than my first deer

I always here that the unit is great..but rarely see pics of the bucks taken there. A friend of mine his boss took one 2 years ago that scored 191. Back when fishing and hunting news was still in publication they had 3 rifle kills in a issue..I would of been highly disappointed with tagging those bucks I saw..I would had passed on the bucks in a OTC unit here.

people are tight lipped about premier late hunts. They think if think if they don't say anything then they will have a better chance of drawing..... even if it is still a 1 in 1,000 chance.  :tung: :chuckle:

Two years ago at about 10 a.m. opening day. My dad didn't see anything near this nice the weeks before when he was scouting, or the morning of the kill. 27 1/2" 5X6 grossed just over 175.

So.....if you were to get a tag where would you hunt? Near the dunes of the lake? Further west, near Frenchmans?  What tecnique works best in that desert area?

I'd just keep bringing it up on this site.  Eventually somebody will tell you the honey hole.  Before the internet, a guy actually had to go find out for himself............boy, have times changed.
