As far as trophy muledeer hunts this one is about as easy as they get.  The deer don't migrate, there's plenty of food, it's flat/rolling terrain. 

Find areas with tall sage (4ft and higher) ~they really like that.  Also areas with willows and willow trees.  AReas where this habitat are found in Desert are N. Potholes (willow forests) and Winchester/Frenchmans wasteways for the other habitat types.  Have even seen deer on the dunes islands while duck hunting on the reservoir.

It's not hard to find deer out there.  The sand is almost as good for tracking as snow is.

I havn't heard of too many toads from there latley . But we are do for a bruisser from that unit . If your looking for a big three you should apply there. ;)

I don't put in for this hunt, but I do put PathfinderJR in for it.  I figured it is the best chance for a bruiser on a hunt that a kid could handle for more than a couple of days...

I've been applying for this hunt for 6 years now.... I'm going to ghost point for a few more years and find another area.....

I don't think digital cameras were invented back when that unit was good so hopefully some guys with scanners can post up some pics :chuckle:
