Rut or no rut it's an all day affair. The seasons are too short and time in the woods is too precious to be spending mid day in camp. Even if I am not really persuing any game I still like to sit or walk around the woods just for the time alone. If it's early in the season and the days are long I will bring lunch and a book (usually the Bible) with me and just relax and soak it all in.

I always try to stay out all day... although I am guilty of finding a nice tree to lean up against and take a little 20 to 30 min snooze around noon

Didn't read threw all the other posts but during the rut they move around a lot! Any time of the day can produce! Stay out as long as you can, from sun up to sun down :IBCOOL:
