Milton-Freewater man wounded in hunting accident
The Associated Press
Published April 28, 2011

The Umatilla County sheriff's office says a Milton-Freewater man was accidentally shot in the back while turkey hunting with a friend near Weston.

Deputies told the Union-Bulletin that 41-year-old Justin Warne was alert and able to walk Wednesday night when his hunting partner took him to meet an ambulance on the way to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.

That's why I never yell GOBBLE GOBBLE while out turkey hunting. Luckily it sounds like he'll be OK.

Lucky guy, sounds like he should be okay. That's why we always need to and teach our kids to make absolut sure you know what your shooting at.

I sure want to hear the whole story.  Did someone fall and grab the gun wrong?  Mistake him for a tom????

Alert and ambulatory are both good things.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

The possibilities for accidents when turkey hunting are numerous. Either way someone made a bad mistake.
Glad the guy's ok.

Worthless article, no details is like no photos....   I am guessing his partner shot him since no other hunters were mentioned.   :dunno:

Friend of mine from high school peppered his own father one day. He had to get about 12 pellets pulled out. Good thing he was a ways away. Then there was the little kid who also got shot recently. Scary stuff.
I'd rather ask forgiveness than permission!

They had a report today on an Oregon radio station. It was still lacking quite a few details. They said his condition was "satisfactory". That could mean a couple of things when referring to a guy who just got shot but at least it's not listed as "critical" or worse.

Oh, and for you west siders. Both Milton-Freewater and Weston are both in Oregon. Just noticing that the thread was titled WA hunter shot. Not that it matters much. It's a preventable tragedy no matter where it happened.
