Another NE Whitetail
« on: April 25, 2011, 08:25:02 PM »
In September '2000 all at once I had 12 forked horn bucks come under my stand while archery hunting.  One particular buck caught my eye because he had a small white patch on either side of his neck.  In '2005 I took my Father in law and his brother into the same area to hunt whitetail for their first time.  His brother [Garrold] got excited and wanted to shoot the first buck we saw; a forked horn.  I told him to hold off.  Less then a minute later this buck went up the ridge beside us and Garrold put him down.  Its neat to see what that forked horn yearling turned into five years later.  I mounted the buck for him and also gave him a shed I had picked up from the same buck.  Wish they all had capes this nice.

I read that.  I would think with work of that quality, that he would have a business name though.......

If I mounted an animal for someone it would be that I paid to have it done for that person.  I am most definately no artist and I most admire the craft.  That is one beautiful animal.

Yes, my taxidermy work.  I don't do it commercially, for the most part just for family.  Its mostly just a very time consuming hobby.  This buck was actually the third mount I'd ever done.

Nice Daydreamn! I never noticed the extra white patches before. Pretty dang nice work for not taking any courses! You or Buck man should post some pics of the very first elk that you mounted!!!
