Went out for the evening hunt last night. The fresh bear sign is starting to show up more and more now but still no sightings for me. And from the writing in dust on the "sign in" shack somebody didn't see any either :chuckle:

Just got home from a evening hunt, didn't see any bears yet again, but I am seeing alot of peels, I followed a trail today and there were fairly fresh peels every 50 feet for along way, I'm not seeing any scat though. Has me worried I'm mistaken on the sign I am seeing. All in all, a very good day in the woods. Seen a really nice bull today, he's going to be a hoss and one dumb coyote.

Well still no luck, I think I'm getting closer though, so I have a question. The spot I have been hunting has 6 fresh (within the last three days) peels, good ones too. So I know there are bears in the area. What kind of range do bears have, will a bear stay close to an area he is working or is their pattern unpredictable? Seems to me they are eating mostly ants in the stumps, everyone I see has been smashed into peices. I have been hunting in the timber, am I better off focusing on clearcuts so I can cover more ground or staying in the timber with the sign I have found. It's getting down to the wire but I'm going to keep at it, as much as possible. Can't kill a bear on the couch.

Clyde says a few have been killed.  My buddy talked to a guy that missed one right on the road directly in front of a couple fresh peels that we had previously seen(about an hour after they were peeled).  Says it was all of 300 pounds.
