In need of a kind soul with knowledge of GMU 501
« on: April 26, 2011, 01:08:09 PM »
If you have knowledge of GMU 501, please PM me.  I have a couple of spots scouted out on google maps but I am lacking the gas to actually get there and scout very much in person.  If you can help, let me know.

Thanks

My son's modern firearm elk tag.  Bear or cougar if we run across one.

This could be kind of interesting, I see Elk in there in few places, but lots of old tracks.
even found sheds in places I was told the Elk don't go, see them mostly hanging on or near private land, but ran into a couple herds on DNR....
I live in unit, but hunt elsewhere because it gets pounded, 3pt or antlerless for ALL user groups..

I would take him where I go for archery but it's 3pt min. only there.  I figured having the "or antlerless" kicker might help the odds

DNR opens the gates for Muzzleloader and that pretty much pushes the elk around quite a bit, onto or behind private land.
pretty hard hunting, ""or antlerless" kicker" isn't really as good as it sounds, but it does help, if you can actually find the elk.

I hunt deer during archery for about a decade, and I only saw couple cows one time only.
