Weird critters.   I shoot one, and one comes out to eat that one, and I shoot it and then one comes out to hump the one I just killed and why he is giving it to her/him, I shoot him.

Dang Bone you shoot a guy when he is having a little fun??

It was a little too kinky for my taste, so I didn't feel too bad.

That was the weirdest thing I found when I was hunting them in California during pig hunting breaks. They were like their own medics, trying to drag their buddies back in. Very cool, because then you had more shooting opportunities.

How can a guy tell the difference between them?

Shoot one and then compare it to the pictures in Google! Just Kidding!

Another good sport involves a water hose and a 12 gauge.  Turn water one and commence shooting.  410 works good, but it isn't an autoloader. :chuckle:

I found a pic of Doug in action  :chuckle:

To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Hwy 16 out of Emmett Idaho just past the *censored* Gulch turnoff ( sign says JAG goes to the dump) just before Firebird Raceway...suicidal road rodents would play chicken with the cars doing 70 or better (its Idaho those white signs with numbers have very little meaning) and get squashed so their buddies would race out and begin eating them and get squashed I have no idea how these damn things survive long enough to reproduce :dunno:

Just to let any arrow flingers know that the G5 small game broadhead works awsome on this little guys. At least with my monster 7.0 at 70 lbs 30 in draw. at 30 yards it picked up the dog flew a few more feet then landed in very rocky area. Best of all saved my arrow, thought for sure it would blow straight through and bust on a rock. Still blew through him but the draging of the dead dog slowed it down enough to save the arrow, at least I think.

There is a speices of ground squirrel that is protected and they look like townsends which the state has a state consurn on. be carefull what you shoot at :twocents:

state regs
Gopher None Year Round Except mazama pocket gophers
Gray and fox squirrels None Year Round Except western gray squirrels
Ground squirrels None Year Round Except golden-mantled and Washington ground squirrels Moles None Year Round Hunting license required.
Nutria None Year Round Hunting license required.
Virginia opossum None Year Round Hunting license required.
Porcupine None Year Round Hunting license required.
Shrews None Year Round Hunting license required.
Spotted skunk None Year Round Hunting license required.
Striped skunk None Year Round Hunting license required.
Voles None Year Round Hunting license required.
Yellow-bellied marmot None Year Round Hunting license required.
Note: Olympic and Hoary marmots are protected.

First off I know this is an old post.  But I was thinking about going ground squirrel hunting this weekend and did a search and came across this post.  It says that golden mantled ground squirrels can be hunted year round with a hunting license.  So I went looking through this years regs to make sure that is what it still said.  But this year on page 77 in the regs it says that golden mantled ground squirrels are protected wildlife.  Is this right?  Or is this a mistake in the new regs?  Can someone please clarify this for me.  Thanks.

Here are some more pics that bone posted.  Are these not ok to shoot?  Or are they?
