Where to buy Bowtech new??
« on: April 28, 2011, 10:24:40 AM »

Can anyone recommend a shop that sells new Bowtechs?
A bud is looking to purchase a new Destroyer 340.
Thanks in advance!

If you are not within 30 miles as the crow flies of a Bowtech dealer, than you can order from Huntersfriend.com  They set the bow up to your specs, paper tune it and give you a sheet with KE reading, FPS per your setup and a whole lot more.  Free shipping too.

I just ordered and received a Bowtech Assassin from them, it's a great deal althought waiting 2 weeks kinda sux

Locally I know Sportco in Fife sells Bowtech and had Destroyers last time I was there.  There is also a Bowtech dealer in Belfair too

Bowtech's website has a listing of dealers, but you will need to call some just have Diamond bows

We're all 30 miles from a dealer. My buddy(different guy) bought a bow off of huntersfriend and had nothing but trouble with their "setup". The draw weight was about 8# too high, timing was off, etc. He took it to the Nock Point and had them get it all straightened out. Not worth the small savings IMO. If I remember correctly, their price was not that much better than anywhere else either.
I sent Cory at XXX Archery a pm...waiting for him to get back to me. The guy buying it doesn't mind driving a little ways for good service.
Anywhere else?

Give Roger a call at WIlderness archery in Bow Washington,  just north of Mt Vernon... he will take good care of you.  www.wildernessarchery.us

:yeah:
Or the Nock point is a great place also, not sure if they carry Bowtech though.

Have you tried Wholesale sports?  Purchased mine actually at SportCo two years ago, they set it up poorly and so i took it to Wholesale sports and had it adjusted.  At the time, Wholesale sports did not have the Sniper in stock, which is the one I wanted.  Oh yea, just remembered, Dicks in Renton had several on order when i was there on opening day.  You could try there as well.

Can't for the life of me understand what anyone would want with a Bowtech except to save money on a bow. I considered one years back and found that Bowtech makes a fairly junky product. Funny thing is though that the Diamond brand of bows are terrific. Hope your freind did a little research first. May i suggest looking at the Diamond brand or Mission ?

Just an opinion , not trying to start a ruckus.

My friend is a research whore.
I don't think he's saving any money either buying that bow...that bow is a little over $800 bare.

Lots and lots of great reviews on the Destroyer bows. I don't know anything about them...I shoot a Hoyt.

Sportco is but they're $100 more than everyone else.

I work at sportco in the archery department. We have destroyers in stock and MAP price for one is 899 that's the lowest bowtech  let's is there certified dealers sell them for to limit competition. But sportco offers a membership for 20 bucks and you save 5% on everything in the store. So you spend 20 to save 40 on the bow plus 5% off anything else you buy. We don't papertune unless asked to. We laser tune just to make sure the arrow is leaving the string level and straight.

I purchased my D350 from Cory, last year.  I went all the way to Rainier, OR to get the best service possible and setup right the first time.  I have had multiple, bad experiences with Rainier Archery and Sportco.  You may also want to check-out Wilderness Archery, up north.  Never been to the shop, but they sell BT and I have heard very good things about them.

Well we got hold of Cory and my bud will be making the trek down there next week. Likely he'll be returning with the new 340 Destroyer. He's also taking my Alphamax down for a new set of G-Strings.

I usually figure out what I want.  Look up the dealers close to my zip code and put them in a spreadsheet.  Then start calling them as to who gives you the best deals.

Then go to the dealer... If the bow looks like it has been shot about 10 or more times I knock off 100 dollars min.  Otherwise walk.  I am not going to pay new for a used bow.  Some shops will allows people to shoot your bow that you ordered before you get to it.

I usually buy a bow every 10 years or so...

I have had a bunch of new bows the last 5-6 years and the D340 has been hands down the best bow I have owned.  Your buddy will love it.

What ignorant statements. Diamond and bowtech are made with EXACTLY the same process and materials. Diamond is their single cam line and bowtech is their binary cam line. And I dont think a 800-900$ destroyer is saving money. The quality of all the major bow companies, Bowtech, Hoyt, Mathews, PSE, Elite, and Darton is VERY good, they have to be to compete with each other. The bottom line is as long as you stick to good brands all you have to do is shoot a lot of bows and find one you love. Dont get a bow just because its what everyone else shoots (unless you actually like how the bow feels). :)

Thanks for that. The limbs cracking and bearings falling out and other issues with the Bowtechs are exactly what i was referring to. Anyone that thinks that every bow made by all the major brand names is good is either crazy or a bit foolish. It is similar to the truck debate that has gone on for years. Fords , Chevys , and Dodges aint as good as each other either.

I was actually told by a salesman that is an archer that he would buy a Diamond long before a Bowtech for several reasons but the top one being the customer service he got from Hoyt and Bowtech sucked and the products they put out left alot to be desired. He said he owns several bows that are Mathews , Mission , Hoyt , and Diaomond.

I didnt just pull the info i posted out of thin air guys. I just heard one company was better than another and was trying to share that so someone dont get a piece of crap that they will be unhappy with. Sorry if that is being ignorant.

If you deal with customer service from Diamond you are dealing with the same customer service that is Bowtech.

Quote
Q: What is the difference between BowTech and Diamond bows?
A: Both brands are made in the same facility and with the same quality of components. The main difference between BowTech and Diamond bows is the cam technology. BowTech bows utilize the Binary™ dual cam system and Diamond bows utilize a single cam.

I have had a bowtech general for 3 years now... not a single problem with it.  One of the smoothest, quietest shooting bows I have ever shot.  If you look long and hard enough on the internet you can dig up dirt on any major bow manufacturer.  There will always be people who have something bad to say.

I have had my bowtech for 4 years and the limbs did crack last year in the middle of my permit hunt. Or at least that is when i noticed it.  But they were great to deal with, replaced them no questions asked.  Lucky shot is the place to go!

This is incorrect.  You must be further than 100 miles from the nearest dealer to order direct from them.  If you got one and are within this distance I'm sure that the local dealers will have something to say.  This deal only applies to folks that live in the far north and south east corners of Washington.

If you are going to buy a new bow you need to support your local dealers.  Otherwise your local dealers will hand you a nice bill for support.

I am the guy that was in the market for a Bowtech. I ended up driving to Rainer,OR after talking to Cory @ xXx. I will say it was well worth the drive! Cory told me in advance that he wold not be there, but Chuck would. He spent a couple hrs with me setting up the bow with my accessories and making sure it was tuned to my form. Its was one of the most positive buying experiences I have had. I even got a couple shooting tips! I would not hesitate to drive back down to do business there again. These guys really seem to know their stuff.

PS
Its the Destroyer 340, and so far I love it! Shoots great, quiet, and alot faster than my previous bow.

I was informed (and received a waiver) by Bowtech customer service, if you are not within 30 miles as the crow flies of a dealer you can use Huntersfriend.com  So either you were told something else, or I was.  I would have gladly used a local dealer if I could have found close enough that sold the Bowtech line.  I am not about to fight Seattle/Tacoma traffic to go to Sportco and I did not want to take a ferry or drive around to Belfair to buy my bow.  I have supported my local shops by taking lessons at Nock Point and I have been to Wholesale sports in Federal Way to buy a new release and arrows from Larry.  When I need new arrows or some setup help I will be heading to Wholesale Sports to have him help me out again.

I suggest you know the entire story before trying to chastise someone for not buying local.  Should I have bought a bow I was not comfortable with? Or a from a shop I was not comfortable with, just because that is what they carry and they are local?

If the local car dealer only sold a Toyota and you wanted a Ford would you just say "Well, I have to support my local dealer"?  Didn't think so...

Acherytalk.com   go to the forum then classifieds then to bows for sale then hunting bows. Yesturday there was a brand new bowtec destroyer never been fired delivered to your door for 665.00!!! there are a few bowtec's on this website.
I watched AT for a while before I purchased new. You mostly see 350's not 340's, and 2010 340's not 2011. If youve done any research at all, the cams were updated in 2011, so thats what I wanted. I decided to buy new because I only buy equipment every few years, so I felt I could spring the extra dough for new. I also wanted the warranty which is only good for the original owner. I was also concerned about getting a bow thats advertised as only being shot 100 times, that was actually shot 1000 times.
I guess what it comes down to is if I gonna part with that much money, I am not gonna let 100 bucks keep me from new, and I am a cheap sob!

Sorry everyone about this last post, but trying to tell people what to do chaps my...

I have a wife that does that  ;)

I'm not doggin you Coach.  I know most of the dealers in this state and it chaps their ass that guys buy from the internet and when they bring the bow in for work they hear them bitch because of the bill they get.  You got lucky because the rule is 100 miles.  But unless you are a good bow mechanic you will need a bow shop.  For the record also, shops don't make a killing off of bow sales either.  Contrary to the beliefe of some.

I wasn't trying to piss you off.  Just trying to put the correct info out there.  And like you there are a few shops out there that I would not go to either.

Yep an old program that hunters holds on to.  And it depends on who you talk to at Bowtech.  The dealer reps will tell you 100 miles and the internet sales guy will tell you what hunters has.  Bowtech don't care they sell bows.  Their rep keeps the shops happy and hunters keeps you happy.  But no one should complain if they get "overcharged" for simple bow maintenance that would be free if they bought the bow from a shop.  Ask Cory at xXx what he thinks about Hunters.

All I am saying is.  Try to support your local bow shop.  They will be there when you need them the most.........hopefully.

Gotcha! Well, I can't really argue that statement. I'm getting back into archery after a 12 year lull and have a buddy who told me about Riverside Archery and the guys up there...much better to deal with than ANY website  :twocents:

I have another buddy who bought a Diamond from Hunters Friend. He told them he wanted it set at a certain weight...65# if I remember correctly. He brought the bow in to show me one day here at work. I drew it and it felt heavier draw weight than my Hoyt A/M at 70#. He took it to a local bow shop to be checked out. They had the thing maxed out at like 74# and the length all wrong, timing was off, etc. That'll be the one and only time that anyone in my circle of friends buys from Hunters Friend I bet. They had that bow all screwed up. I have had nothing but good experiences with the Nock Point here and now Fanatic's experience with xXx leaves no reason at all to buy over the internet.
