Anyone hunting Idaho for elk this year?  I will be packing in on the 8th with the horses and mules and coming out the 23rd of Sept.

Only if I scored a controlled hunt.  I'm in for down in the desert.  Unlikely, but you will probably find me over there chasing muleys at th first of October if I'm not over trying to photograph moose in the panhandle.  I ought to be single by then, so shoul have lots of time to hunt. :o

I was going to try it with some buddies from new york, but a pending screaming baby has changed my plans for me. i think the new york guys have bagged it as well.
we were tentatively planning a drop-camp with bearpaw outfitters on one of those OTC tags in southeast ID.
it's a no-go now.

I will be there Sept 15 the through the end of the month if needed in the South central part of the state. Unless I draw my controlled hunt choice then I will be there in Oct.

I didnt draw MT this year so heading back to Idaho.  Any year taht I am not deployed and able to spend in the woods with my old man is  agood one.  I will be there rifle hunting the Pan HAndle this year.  Was lucky about 5 years back and harvested my first elk, a nice cow. I have one goal and that is to get the ol man a bull. This will be his 3rd year coming up to elk hunt with me. He has never shot a bull and I will do all I can to put him on one. Unfortunately he desnt gte around great, retired disabled. We were lucky enough last year after I broke my leg to fill my cow tag in MT. What an experience. Broke leg and broke back. Anybody have any pointers on Pan Handle, I only know the 4A and 4 unit.

Are you stationed at Fairchild?  What Unit are you with?  If you are e-mail me on the global network at fred.moyer.ctr@fairchild.af.mil  I'll let you know some nice areas for elk in the Panhandle.
