Yes they did...  Well look at that, number of archery hunters hunting bumping went to 151 and success rate went to 5.3%; 8 killed.  In 2009, there were 560 hunters and success was 11.1%.  Well the game department got their wish.

Oh and the 8 archery kills were all spikes if the data is correct.  Meaning the branch antlered tags went 0 for 70.  I know of a few branch bulls that were taken.  Shocked, their harvest data has errors.

If people reply late on the harvest success,  that information isn't included in the report if I recall correctly from the conversation last year.

I missed it on my first pass through the harvest data - the state is now publishing the permit applicant counts, applicant point counts, and how many applicants at each point level drew out.   So we can now calculate what our individual draw odds were for last year - as use it to approximate odds for this year's drawings.

What a joke, I know of more bucks shot in some of those areas than it shows. Just goes to show how honest some people are on their reports

I wish they would include what the response was in regards to %, so we would know if there are people that haven't responded yet, but they have improved on the information that we got just 5 years ago and a dramatic improvement in the detail from 10+ years ago.

Got a question on these reports.  Is the number of points listed the number of points on the bull, or the number of points the permit owner had when they got selected?

It's number of points on the animal (one side). That's why you are asked for that information when you do your harvest report, if you harvest an animal.

I agree the draw in this state is a joke, but not for that reason.

All that shows is that no matter how many points you have 1 or 20 is that you have a chance. What is a joke is what they did to the system last year that screwed peoples odds up big time.

I like oregons, The top points guys get drawn so the applicant pools turn over, plus first time applicants have a chance! Perfect system!

To each his own.  Here are actual draw stats for the Wenaha elk hunt with bow.  Of 189 non resident applicants, 1 drew with 15 points.

It works there because they basically have no general season. It wouldn't work here for that reason, IMO.
