Is this a buck?
« on: May 02, 2011, 06:37:42 AM »
Got two pictures of what I think is a buck. Actually got 6 pictures of him(?) but only two that show the head well enough to see what looks like the beginning of antler growth. Wanted to see what everybody else thinks. I'll be leaving the camera at this location all summer so it will be interesting to see the progressive antler growth. I'm also planning on putting at least one more camera in the same general vicinity.

Nice little distinctive nip out of his right ear too will help you keep track of him.. Pretty cool!

Sure looks like it. I agree...the little nip in the ear gives him a bit of character. Maybe he's a little scrapper.

Haven't starred at enough deer a$$es to know.  A tear in the ear could be from fighting, so one might lean the direction of a buck.  It also could be from a near miss from a bear or cougar you never know.

But those little nubs on his head are a dead give away.

Yeah, that's what I was going by was the little bumps on the head. I just can't see a doe looking like that. Here's a couple pictures from the same location of a doe. I don't see any bumps on the head:
