went to the east side to hunt some yotes today
« on: May 03, 2011, 06:02:07 PM »
tried calling a bunch of different ways with no luck at all, ended up walking to a cliff edge and my buddy spotted a yote at 260 yards out so I tried taking a shot at it and was about a foot high, I took another shot at it when it was running and when I shot it turned its head towards its tail really fast so Im not sure if I grazed his rear end or not.

ended up getting covered in ticks so that sucked, they were just crawling on my cloths. I prob pulled two dozen off

Yea it's tick season but if you use the right calls it can be very productive.

I was out last weekend and no ticks for me. I was suprised! Funny, I can pick off a rock chuck at well over 100yards, but I miss a coyote at about the same distance.  :bash:
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

I got a call from a cattleman last weekend so my son and i went out sunday morning , we got three in 2 hours, he was pretty excited when he  recognised me from the Fast and Furious show, Huge ranch and new access for me , been wanting to get on this ground for a few years now . There is a guy from the wet side that has been calling this ground for a couple of years and shoots coyotes at 200 300 yrds , bad news for him , now that i have access there wont be any coyotes left to shoot come winter , ill clean them up .    no ticks . you have to stay away from the sudan grass and water . Go to wally world and buy some pyretherin, spray your clothers
(not while wearing them) and let them dry , so smell and the ticks will NOT bothere you again .

All this talk of ticks....wife pulled me out of the shower to pull one out of my youngest son's head.

She didn't want to touch it!

'ya know what?? I have the saaame issue!

it IS a lot of work just taking pics....i usually just take a pic with my cell phone, don't hardly ever take a camera.

Funny you mention about the hair. The last couple of dogs we've gotten were full haired up, and it wasn't slipping at all.

Got this one a couple of days ago, and other than no sun, and the warm temp, you couldn't tell its as late as it is! As said, this is a cell phone pic

Yea, I was amazed at the thickness, and we saw one that was fairly white. A big male, but he eluded us......I was just reading the fur report, and it was saying yote prices are on the rise. Maybe good news for next year?

I've only see 2 dogs in 3 months, both in the last week.  I might have to start packing again... :chuckle:

Keep at em boys!  Fawns are soon to come and I saw my first pheasant chicks yesterday.

Made it out this morning, and boy was the weather NOT cooperating! Rained all night, and all morning, and the wind blew even harder. Made about four stands and only saw one dog. He came in to 75 yards.

Boy is the fur slipping!

See what a change a few days makes....Although he was shedding hard, he still was in good shape, although soaked too.

The Farmer should be a bit happier now! ;)

Pups are on the ground, and does are starting to drop too!

Best advice??? Get out and Try. Nobodies going to get any sitting at home.

You may see a couple while calling for turkeys! Bet you'll know what to do if that happens!  ;)

Hey Jerry! Thats another cell-phone pic....only way I'll ever get it done.
