Bighorn thumbhole stock
« on: May 04, 2011, 10:39:53 PM »
I am thinking of switching my order from the straight stock to the thumbhole version.    Any thoughts and or experiences?

I like a thumbhole stock, they can take a little getting use to. You will be just fine with either one.

I think thumbhole sticks are retarded.

My buddy has one, they're just goofy.

He thinks its the coolest thing ever though.

Not as good for a brush gun that you carry and manuever through the thick stuff with both hands.  But that grip is nice when trying to get a good hold on your shot.  My brush gun is a knight wolverine with a regular stock, and my longer range gun with a sling on it is a bighorn with a thumbhole.  I suggest you put a sling on the gun with a thumbhole stock because they feel goofy trying to carry it with your off hand.  I also have a peep on my bighorn and open sites on my wolverine.

When I bought my Bighorn the dealer had both the straight and thumbhole versions.  After shouldering both there was no doubt that the thumbhole stock has a much more natural feel to it when you bring it to your shoulder.  To me it just locks in like it was meant to be.  :twocents:
