Use the Berger VLD's in my 300 WSM/Tikka Lite. They group well for me at about 3/4" at 100 yds. I don't shoot paper very good so I consider that decent. I took them out today and shot at my gong at 400 yds and was amazed that the first shot blew through 1/4" steel and left a hole the size of a 50 cal! The steel wasn't high grade but it was heavy and I sure didn't expect that kind of damage at that distance. I'll guess I'll have to go back to shooting paper with the VLD's or build a better gong.

It has been my experience with the Bergers that you need to not get frustrated with a less than great group at a 100 yards....shoot them at 200 or 300 and see what happens!Seems like they take a little bit longer to stabilize, maybe its just my rifle but at a 100 yards they dont do anything that my hornadys wont...but at 200-1,000 yards...look out.

You do need to have a long action to best utilize the Bergers for sure or else you might as well buy a single shot rifle.

That is the case I hear from almost every shooter, that I know who uses them. 1-1.5 at 100yards but really shows the special stuff at 300+ compared to a lot of other bullets.

in the past i have always used bullets that had more weight retention.  would using these bullets do just fine on black bear if you hit shoulder bones and what not, out of a .270 140 gr.
i know these bullets are super fast and accurate just want to make sure they are good for bears ans maybe elk for future.
thanks for the feed back everyone

take a look at the 185gr vld for your WSM. looking at ballistic calcs, the 185 has more energy and has a better trajectory than the 168 at longer ranges. i can get 3000fps out of my browning a-bolt 300wsm. shoots well.

Super premium bullets are the way to go for hunting. Bonded core or solid copper expanding. You're on the right track already thinking about weight retention.

Been waiting to hear some news on the 338 bullet. There was another post on here i think it was 338 long range and it had all the info and a link to it.

It is currently called the "Hybrid" and not been released to the general public yet but the BC is supposed to be in the 8s! That is crazy.

I personally shoot the 185s out of my 300 WSM and got the following results:
