Hows the gobblin
« on: May 06, 2011, 06:53:14 PM »
Heading back over to the NE on sunday night! One of the very few luxuries of being unemployed. Anyway, just curious how the turkeys are acting?  It sounds like they have been getting a little easier to work with.  Im really excited that im getting to go twice in a season, usually with work im not that fortunate.

Just got back about 5 hours ago. Was pretty good. Called in 3 first thing Thursday and a friend got his first bird. Called in 5 this morning and he got his second bird. Some of my usual areas have been hit pretty hard and the birds were pretty reluctant to respond. Just have to hit a few different spots till you get a hot one.

Good luck.

I have not left the house yet but I always love the later part of the season ..most hunters either tagged out or done give up ... after last years hunt I would rather wait until the 15 th of May or the last week .. we went last year the last 5 days and seriously put the hurt to them ... alot of lonely gobblers ..Not saying it was easy but its just like calling elk the closer you are to them the better chance of calling them in .....THE ZONE !

Well thats enough to get me excited.  Ive never headed over any weekend other than the opener, so this should be a lot of fun.  Didnt really see any hunters in my spots then, so all those uncooperative birds SHOULD be ready to play now.  Cause i know the areas were stuffed with them.

There are still birds that are gobbling.... :hello:

About 10 am after the hens leave the gobblers they are pretty vulnerable.  ;)

Great news. I'll be heading over on the 20th. First time for hunting that late. Everything I've read says the the last part of the season can be good because most of the hens are on nests and the Toms are still on the hunt for the last available girl.

Had a call tonight from the NE.  Hunting partner was caught out hiking with out a shotgun.  3 toms fired up this evening and when he tried calling ..... one of them started to come in so he left.  He will try to find em on the ridge in the morning.

My hunting partner called this one in this morning in a clear cut.  Another friend from the NE harvested a bird yesterday.  Game is still on with the delayed spring.

Yes. Log in and just change the mileage to your new current number each time you need to. Then hit next and yer done.
