Any guesses on the score on this bull.

This was a nightmare bull to start. Customer brought it to me to re-mount. The origional mount had the eye guards sitting just above the bridge of the nose and had the skull cap broke to clear the wall (definately not the correct way to make the antlers clear the wall), it was about 5 inches narrower than the rack should have been via score sheet. This was not kosher with my customer so I told him I could fix it and make it right. So a new cape and me changing my mind on how I wanted to modify the form many times, this is what I came up with . I sure hope this brings back good memmories  of his trophy instead of displeasure everytime he looked at it on the wall. Too bad the origional mount was only 3 years old   Lesson learned, make sure the taxidermist you take it to does the quality of work you expect so you dont have to pay to have it done again.

That thing looks sweet!!! Nice work Charlie!!!! My ol' man is gonna be one happy camper when he gets back from redding!!  :chuckle:  Now you just have to get his deer done and he'll be good to go for life! Lol

I'll guess the score - may be unfair though because I know the answer..  :dunno:

That was an Eastmans' bull featuring a bull I had taken as well.. "The father son duo". Also was the article that announced me winning the hunt with Cameron Hanes.. What an awesome bull - another HUGE congratulations to my ol' man!! My true hero!!

John - thank you for being there and calling that big boy in! You definitely made his dreams come true!

Looking good, Charlie! Not to hijack this thread, but what is the minimum width you'd expect to lose on a 19 1/4" wide buck after the antlers "dry." I have a buddy out here who may have ran into the same problem as the owner of this bull mount did. Seems like he lost a little too much in width after the mount. I told him about what you were doing with this bull and I may have to stear him your way.

From what I have seen about 3/4 of an inch on the high end  is about the norm on a deer rack , but usually around that 3/8 to 1/2 inch area. I have seen some racks that have lost a bit more though.

The more and more I look at other head mounts the more I realize just how good Charlie's head mounts are.  Great Job and the bull looks great.

It was in the May/June issue of Eastmans' Bowhunting Journal 2008.  The one with David Long and his big backcountry muley on the cover..

Here are the two bulls that were in the article.. His was taken on Sept 9th, and mine was the next day Sept 10th, 2007.
