I hope you get some good ones! That hat deal is pretty funny, but I have to agree with your point on the other thread that scent doesnt really have much to do with them coming into your site if your the one bringing the food.

All three are nice looking healthy deer. Looks like that one in back may be high and tight and the front one may be a bit wider. Cool.

It's been fun watching these bucks grow.  Getting new visiters every week.  The buck I named Browless (first pic) seems to have the most growth to start but he wont be the biggest by Sept.

A friend got this pic of a nice blacky in a field over on Decator island the other day. Should be a good one specially since there is still about 3 weeks of antler growing yet.

i did a little research on growth last year after i took a pic of a 4pt  by chesaw july 2nd. i need to figure out how to post pics but anyhow, my research came up with that deer will grow into sept oct even after the velvet is rubbed off. so there is great potential in soem of these deer. still have 3-4 months to grow and if the feed is good, could have some mashers

I think once the velvet is gone that is their final size. I havent seen any hard horn bucks get any bigger.

I am interested in the source of info that says antler grow into October. I believe you but I am not sure I believe it.

From shed antlers to shed velvet the process takes less than 200 days. Antler growth stops when testosterone levels rise. This is a result of the days getting shorter. At this point the antler is completely mineralized, the blood flow is reduced and the velvet starts to dry. This process begins with the formation of what we call the burr. The pressure created by the burr is what restricts the blood flow. The interior of the antler is mineralized and no long returns blood. In a short period of time (in as little as a few hours) the velvet dies and is removed by the buck.
