My 2010 Blacktail Video
« on: May 09, 2011, 11:24:28 PM »
Well, after editing that wolf video and getting it posted I realized just how easy it was to do with Windows Movie Maker.  I went ahead and edited up my 2010 late buck BT.  Don't think I've shared pictures or a story yet.

Anyways, here it is.  Starts out with the shot, then walking down to him, and finally a post hunt interview/story.  All solo.  Enjoy.

Also, I didn't end up having the buck mounted, just didn't have the money handy to justify it.  I did have Charlie do a euro on it, and he was generous enough to give me shop credit for the cape since I took care of it.  Haven't yet seen it in person, but it looks amazing in the picture Charlie posted.

Thanks guys.  I can't wait to get my hands on an aftermarket video editing program.  My uncle has one that he never used I guess and I'm getting it when I get back to Washington.  I got 2 late blacktails, 2 Idaho WT's, 4 Colorado muleys, and 3 Colorado bulls on video this past season, not to mention a couple short duck hunts and a bunch of shed hunting. Will be editing them up into a DVD for the hunting partners when I can.

Also, unfortunately I didn't buy this dang digital video camera until right before Colorado, and was just able to video my roommates first elk (Idaho spike) with an ancient camera that records on the little cassette tapes.  I got my sisters moose hunt last year video'd with the same camera as well.  Any idea on how I go about getting that video transferred over to digital? I wonder if I got an HDMI cable and hooked the computer up to the TV if I could somehow record it onto my computer.  Or even if there is an outfit I could take it to and they could transfer it for me? Anyone know any companies or a way to do this?

Hey Alan Awesome vid!  If you can't transfer that footage over yourself, you can take it to kits camera and get it put on a dvd. I used to edit some of my motocross vids that way.

Thanks for the comments guys! Glad you enjoy the look in on the hunt!

And thanks for the PM's I've received.  It sounds like I need both an HDMI cable and some sort of video capture card/device to get the video from my sisters moose hunt and roommates elk hunt converted to digital.  I've actually got a lot of the same old little tape video of some of my youth hunts and youth football games so I wouldn't mind spending the $$ on the equipment needed to get it digital, I'd actually get some use of it.  If anyone's got a good setup they'd suggest let me know, otherwise I'll get over to circuit city tomorrow or the next day and pick their brains as to what I need.

 :)

And yeah it's nice when it works out! When I was headed up into the area, I was planning on spending my time glassing that unit but that morning it was nothing but tail lights ahead of me and headlights behind me before shooting light.  Was VERY discouraged at the amount of pressure during a week day.  Figured I'd go and glass this spot and if I didn't see anything I'd go ahead and hit the timber and see if I could close the deal.  Didn't have to, spotted this buck in the unit about 20 minutes into shooting light.  :D

Alan,

PM sent.  You can feel free to bounce questions off of us if you would like.  We have been fighting/learning about videoing hunts over the past few years.
