When I used to do my calling with a rifle I never used hearing protection, however when I go to the range I double up with plugs and muffs.
No that I am wanting to get back into calling and will be only using a handgun I was curious how many wear ear protection while calling when shooting a hand gun?

I did try it a couple of times (ear plugs) when using a rifle but always felt that I could never quite trust the volume of my calls that way using an e-caller or mouth calls.

Thanks in advance to all.

I use Walker Power Muffs in the field for all hunting and love them.  They have fine adjustments on them for all types of conditions.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

When I take my ar out I make sure I have ear protection in after I sit down. In the colder months I wear a head cove that goes over my ears and it cuts the bang out realy well. If I go big game I don't take plugs I'm more likely to shoot more out calling which is where you lose hearing with multiple shots like with doubles or more.
