Well we  got out Thursday and hooked a nice one that let loose just before the boat. Weather was terrible and blew us off before we could finish the second drift. Got out yesterday and caught two in the 25-30 lb range and the assortment of other rockfish that are out there. No pics. Was to tired and have caught way to many in this size range to get to excited. The fish are there, just don't seem to be all that large yet.

Saw a few 1-2 that may have hit 50, but a lot of small 10-15 lb chickens coming in.

Met Robodad out there, sounds like he did pretty good on the bottomfish.

My guess with the low numbers of fish and the size of the fish, that we will get a June opener.

Good luck to anyone heading out next week!

Yeah It was great to meet you JKEEN and your pop, I was so tired of getting our a$$ kicked on thursday that I just turned around and got it kicked all the way back in to Tatoosh, I really wished I had been able to get out there with you guys since we were almost there but I guess I made the right choice turning around.

Saturday, fridays memory was still too fresh I guess and we just stayed inside and didn't catch anything but a couple bottomfish we had to release because of the closure areas.

Friday we did quite well, limits of lingcod and sea bass and had fun catching ton's of fish we released as well, oh and lost a bunch of gear but if your not losing gear your not fishin right !!!

Here is my buddy with a couple of the lingcod we got !!! and a 160qt costco cooler nearly full !!!

Note to self: Get a bigger boat !!!  :chuckle:

Nice pics. For as good of a tasting of a fish as they are they sure look ugly.

May have been to much for my dad too. He had a heart attack today. Just got back from the hospital. Seems to be doing okay so far, but was pretty scarry for a while. Sure hope he does ok, he is the best fishing and hunting partner around.

Thank you. Greatly appreciated. So far so good, but lots of tests scheduled for tomorrow. Had me pretty scared for a while. He's in such good shape I always thought it would be me instead of him.

:yike: WOW !! Man I am really sorry to hear that, I'll be putting him on my list too, I just lost my dad recently and I didn't get to do much with him over the years that I wished I had, I really hope he recovers well from this so you can continue to do all the great things with him !!

Wow !!  :yike: Didn't see that coming.

Thanks none of us saw this coming.

If you decide to hit Neah Bay again, let me know ans I will pull the GPS points. We have three spots in about 500 yards that have been producing every year for the last 4 now. We threw back several 10-15 lbrs before getting the 2 we kept. i don't think we fished more than an hour for the halibut, then ran out to Blue Dot for ling. Use to get 4 footers out there, only got one at legal length and several just under.

On a flat day I'm sure your boat would do fine. You were within 3 miles Thursday and that was a pretty rough day although I have seen it a lot worse. The more trips you make the more comfortable you get with it.

Forgot to add, if you fish out of La Push, you will more than likely be hitting the spot I was taking you. It's pretty close to the same distance from Tatoosh to where I was going as it is from LaPush to the same spot. Neah Bay just has a better area to spend the night I think so I usually fish out of there.
