My first bear photo
« on: May 11, 2011, 10:37:23 PM »
Took a drive to my kids 6th grade camping trip and came across this bear. It just lumbered across the road. When I first saw it from the corner of my eye all I saw was its rear end in the sagebrush and figured it was a cow but almost instantly realized it wasn't an old cow LOL.

Nice!  Were the kids at camp Disautel?
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.

Thanks all for the compliments. I almost gave my wife whiplash stopping so I could take the photo LOL and I have to give her credit for getting the camera out quick for me to take it. Though she thinks I am nuts ( well I am nuts but that's another story ha ha ) for yelling "HEY BEAR" to get it to turn around so I could take the picture  :P .

509er you are close they were at Camp Progress. My wife had never been up there and had never been through the Karter Valley so I took her the back way and she was impressed with all the rocks they put in the road LOL.

I also had just told her watch out for brown fuzzys ie deer moose etc and wasn't meaning bears :P LOL.

pretty bear. I saw a sow and 2 cubs yesterday, watched them for 15 minutes without a camera!  :bash: Tried to take pics with the cell phone but you can just make out 3 black dots.  :chuckle:

MtnMuley that is a sad part being it was on the reservation there are packs of dogs that run loose in a few places, just hope this bear doesn't encounter them.

Camp I am surprised there aren't more up by you LOL.

booner if your phone is like mine it SUCKS for pictures ha ha. But cool you saw cubs I like watching them.

Educate me here guys. Looks like a bear on the smaller side if you go by the ears/head.

Now me, being a bear newbie, I'd see the color on that hide and don't think I hesitate to shoot. That being said, with cubs may be a different story.

Cool pics, thanks for posting.

Gorgeous boo boo... now to find him during bear season....
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Next question is I am not good at judging whether it is a boar or sow. My guess and it is a big guess it is a younger boar. How far am I off LOL.
