There is 4.  The only reason I know that is the fourth one stood up, I never saw it.  I did manage to pick out the other 3.

I know this is a really old topic, but I can't help but notice, is there a deer head to the left of the fourth, and highest deer?... Looks like it to me.

I'm glad Bone bought a better camera since this photo was shot! I saw three, but from the photo I never would have found the fourth in the upper right. Resolution is not good enough to see if there's a fifth.

I think there is one to the left of the top circle.  I think its the gray from the face.  I just remeber taking the picture and then all of a sudden a crap load stood up. LOL

Actually, I see two to the left of the top circled one, I see the eyes and top of the head of one, and then a head directly above that, I think there are six in the pic.

how about the seventh......its an eartip an an extra set of eyes to the far right center, just above, like almost on top of each other.  You can see the one plainly but almost another set of eyes and an eartip to go along with.  :)

Good thread to revive Bone.  I saw it when I was going thru the archives from a couple of years ago.

You'll have to thank Alec for that.  I do love that picture though.  Kinda like ghosts.

I know what you mean.  When I moved back to WA in 2001 and started hunting mulies (grew up hunting whitetails in Kettle Falls) I thought it was going to be easy to spot and stalk in the wheat fields and CRP around here.  My buddy showed me an area that has about 3 miles of CRP, sage and buck brush, so I was walking it after work during the general rifle season.  I passed a little draw with some brush growing in it, and stopped to look thinking "that would be a great place for a deer to hide".  I watched for a minute.  Nothing. So I walked a few yards.  I stopped and looked again, this time with my binos (even though the brush was only 50 yards away).  Nothing.  I walked past it, and then thought "maybe I should walk up the draw and gain some elevation".  So I started walking towards it.  4 muley does hopped up out of nowhere and ran off!  I started rethinking how many deer I was probably cruising past in "open country"...
