Is there an elk herd you can find?  Sometimes they like to follow the herds around.  What would be their food of choice for your area?  There's at least 3 near me that have been hanging around a river following deer and occasionally down to the pastures where the elk hang out.  The cats seem to have a habit of approaching from back and forth through a crosswind.  I've heard one of the best ways to set up for them is to have the decoy/call upwind of where the cat is likely to approach from and downhill from the approach.  The cat should sneak from downwind and then they like to pounce down (easier than pouncing uphill).  And the shooter would be crosswind.
