thigh holster for backpack hunting?

I plan on carrying my sidearm during a rifle backpack trip.  Since the belt holster and the pack belt will occupy the same location, I was thinking of a thigh holster.  I have a shoulder holster, but getting it out from under my jacket or vest could be awkward.

Anyone use one?

I have been looking at that option also, however you can get a holster that mounts to you r backpack waist strap, check out the tactical tailor in Tacoma, they make cool stuff!

Thanks to Gutpile and Alchase I went with a Blackhawk Serpa with the CQC platform set up crossdraw but my pack waist strap has the MOLLE web system on it.
My buddy uses a IWB holster for his which works well the way his waist strap is set up. There's options, it just depends how your pack is set up and where do you want the holster to ride? I went cross draw so the rifle stock wouldn't contact the pistol when it is holstered and when I'm carrying the rifle on the sling.
What kind of pack?

Is there a molle adapter for a revolver hip holster?

The adapter works for anything Molle...you have to get the right holster for the pistol. If you look at the pics that Gutpile posted in there you'll see what he did...if you can get a Blackhawk Serpa holster for your pistol, then that Molle attachment will work and you can attach it to the Molle system. Those serpa holsters have a bunch of screws on the backside of them holding the holster to whatever adapter or support or whatever happens to be there. You remove the screws, attach that adapter and then attach the whole thing to your Molle system. You could hang a holster anywhere you have the Molle system if you wanted to. I also have a canvas simple $20 holster that attaches directly to the Molle system that works ok...the Blackhawk stuff is just a lot better.

My Cabela's Alaskan frame pack has a built-in holster.  Sort of.

I have a Blackhawlks thigh rig as well. IT works great, though I prefer to carry on the waist band of my pack (off hand) when hunting.
I would buy one of each, you can never have to many holsters.

I don't think a thigh rig (worn on the thigh) would be very desirable.  It would be hanging up in the brush, and try running with one on.

I agree, though I used one for years on duty without ever thinking about it, I must be getting old  and use it mainly around camp and go back to the waist rig when the pack comes on.
