Whitetail Deer Wall Pedastal
« on: June 23, 2007, 05:06:46 PM »
Finnished this guy up last night.  Last project befor I start packing up the shop.  What a mess.

NO, those marks all over the deer are not fight marks.  It's caused from Ticks, and the deer rubbing on everything he can find to get rid of them.

The detail on the ear did not show up at all.

Nice job.  Too bad about the rubbed hair.  Is that deer typical of the color of the animals down there?

No, this deer had some different color paterns on it.  This deer tends to be a little lighter in color than most of the deer I see down here.  Their was also alot more white in the brisket.  The doublt white patch is also not the norm especially one of that size.

Even with the rubs the deer has lots of character.  If it were mine I would have still used the original cape.

I was wondering as it does have a unique color.  Also the face, especially his forehead is a bit different, almost monotone and definately lighter.  Thanks again for the pics.  I always believe in using the original cape if possible, even if it missing an ear.  I like the character of every animal, earsplits, etc.

I would say that this deer is about normal when it comes to color, minus the double throat patch.
