Never heard of it. I have been a pro staffer for knight-hale game calls and H.S. strut and never heard the old timers talk about it.

o.k since we are all here because we love to hunt and are to help each other out I will help as much as I can but being an avid turkey hunter for a solid 30 yrs it is hard for me to give out information like this but since I have killed my share of long beards I will let out alittle information on the subject .. First I will say that everyone thinks that knight & hale and h.s strut are the Icons of turkey hunting and do not get me wrong they all are awesome turkey hunters but the man who really knows his sheet about killing gobblers is Jerry Petersen of woodwise game calls ... I grew up watching him kill more gobblers than most of these guys on t.v and if you really want to do some damage on some long beards then go to their site woodwise game calls and send them a message asking them to tell ya what ( whit whits and do its mean in the turkey language and maybe order a couple of their videos and watch how they roll a few birds ... I actually have some killer videos over the years but my camera is out of order and it takes alot of money to fix the dang thing and I do not have extra to get it fixed right now ....the last calling contest we had at the state chapter meeting I was beat by one point and the only reason I was beat was because of an H.S prostaffer came and come to find out he needed a win to go to nationals and not bragging by any means but he got his butt kicked and everyone agreed but the judges who had know idea what calls I was making ... So I guess the next I try something like that again SOMEONE BEST KNOW THE TURKEYS VOCABULARY.... :chuckle: :chuckle  and if you really want to be freaked out I will share one other secrete I have and never leave home without it ......A DRINKING STRAW .... ya rolled many gobblers with just a drinking straw ..... it has its own little sound I can drive gobblers nuts with ....

Strange! I've taken several toms across the country at the last few weeks of turkey season using deeks. Perhaps I'm lucky, or I'm doing something different.

Strange, the day I killed my tom...one week before the end of the season, 2 hens were yelping offf behind my set up, 2 toms gobbled off to my left and the one I shot gobbled 6 times on the way to the deeks.

I think most people realize that hunting shows are for intertainment, not for tips or rules on hunting. Contest calling is for contests.suttle calling is best, but from time to time you can and should crank em up.

Sometimes after the jakes have been whacked, the older birds are left and they tend to be a little more deek shy, but they too have a weakness.....all my hens are gone..and I'm still horny baby...that's when a little inticement works.

Oh, and sometimes gobblers gobble by themselves and they are NOT coming...but its just best to stay put and find out.
hahaha ya and anyone can make a turkey gobble but only a few can actually make them come to them ... :chuckle: :chuckle:

I've heard them in the woods and use them alot. I think the only "Pro" Ikve heard speak of them is Preston Pittman. I met him this winter and asked about them because I wanted to find the best mouth call to use. I bet some of the reason you don't hear pros talk about them is it may be the " ace in the hole" mentality. Don't give out ALL the secrets, unless borached on the subject. Just a thought. I was hunting this year with some guysthat only use a heartbreaker and a pot call. For six years in this one spot. So as thebirds would answer but hang up to their calling, I'd break out with a couple do its and whit whit and it usually broke the birds to come in. Batted .500 using it there. Launched a load of sixes over the head of the first tom but squared the second one in the waddles.  :twocents:

BH45....Now I remember you a little more, you were mixing those in on your tree yelp, because I remember talking to you about it. That's when I started researching those sounds more. Also that year I had a Tom do it right in front of me. We had gotten inbetween a Tom and a hen, we could,t move to scare her off, but the Tom hung just out of sight but inrange. He whistled, the " Do it" or doo whup I called it then. The hen ran to him as ifon a string. Plus that contest got me to tone it down a bit. Kind of the " If I knew then what I know now" senario. It helped both in the woods and contests.

I can tell you this..there are 2 of us that know exactly who you are. We also know you are not exactly what you think you are. Its crazy for you to think you have killed more turkeys than either one of us, but hey..we will let you be the big fish in the small pond.

Not sure who runs this thing..but Ive avoided forums because of guys like this...I hate to say it, but it looks like the problems ive heard of are real. Im glad im not new to the sport of hunting, because people like this guy have the potitial to promote the sport..but because of his inablility to communicate...is turning people away..like mysef.
