Way to go JP, I will Archery hunt the books in a couple years. Hope you have the hunt of your dreams.
Hunt high, the big boys are there you just have to weed through avg bucks.

Actually,  if its the rifle hunt youll want to hunt low.  The deer in the Book Cliffs all transition towards wintering grounds the first part of October.  Good luck.  Ironhead is right about seeing lots of bucks.  50 to 60 a day is the norm.  Dont let your expectations get too high though. If you like road hunting youll fit right in.

There was lots of info on here on the unit a few times. I think bone drew it a year or two ago, don't think he went but I remeber seeing a lot of good info on it. Might be worth a search or two. Good luck hope you can smack one. take lots of pic's!!!

Lots of bucks - just not a lot of big bucks.  That is probably what he meant.   I guess you could say that about anyplace, though.   :chuckle:

I wouldn't turn the tag down - that is pretty awesome country!

14 points is good, that is why i transferred all of my resident points in Utah to non resident points when I moved a couple months ago. I will draw out alot quicker now. Book Cliffs is awesome country. Like some have said lots of Bucks, There are some real quality bucks but you have to get into the deep draws. So I would suggest that you make sure you are in shape.

Bone's tag was in the Ruby's in Nevada, not the Books in Utah.
Honestly I can't remember any talk on here about the Books but I could definitely be wrong.
Monstermuleys.com is your friend on that one.

I have been hunting the books for about 12 years, there are some big bucks, take good optics, and make sure you have enough time to find a big buck, it is 100 miles across the unit, it is big country...  :twocents:

There are a lot of people that can help you out on information on the Books. Jackelope already posted one but there is also Muleymadness.com and also Utahwildlife.net. Be careful down there you will more than likely have a run in with Doyle Moss and the boys in that country, they can be a little abrasive to say the least. If you do see them you will know that there is a monster Deer or Elk Near by.
