Congrats to you Fairchase! I don't get that magazine, so how about posting the cover and the story that goes with it?

Just the good ones. It comes with my membership to Boone and Crocket. I support alot of clubs and half have mags that come with. I don't think Tony is a writer, but one hell of a photographer. He had lots of photos in there. The photo on the cover however is unbeatable, just like his Grizz pic a couple issues ago. Many of you have seen the ram, but I thik these two shots are WAY better.

Popeshawnpaul, were you with Tony when he shot the goat pic? I noticed that you have a goat pic in the gallery that looks real similiar to Tony's shot.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm glad that you guys like the shot of the billy, even though some dont believe it is. That's okay, Montana is not known for it's stellar goats.
That shot was taken last year, early spring after a 15 mile one way trek, and I was alone, well except for the a few grizzly shots, one of which was in the sheep issue of fair chase (also an issue I have the cover of). I'm glad the Boone and Crockett club chose it for the cover. The other shots in the magazine came from different areas than did the cover shot.
The mule deer buck shot was sold by "images on the wildside" a stock agency owned by a good friend of mine, and world class photographer who shoots a lot of material for cabelas, Denver Bryan.
Thanks again for your congratulations and support.
Wait until the 2009 Boone and Crockett calendar comes out, I think you'll all like it too. . .

Hey Dman, great to hear from you too!
I would post the cover shot, but I my scanner is giving me grief. BTW, the cover shot came from the Great Bear Wilderness area here in Montana. . .

No Timber. That's one honey hole I haven't been to. Tony only takes me to the goat spots infested with ticks because he knows I can't stand them... I think he offered up the spot if I would give up my first born, but I wasn't willing to do that for a goat. Now if it was a sheep spot...
In all seriousness, it's a great shot. For me, I always look at the hair or feathers when looking for a quality picture. On Tony's cover shot, you can see the individual goat hairs and it's sharp. That makes a photo a great photo.

My thoughts exactly. even about the ticks.
Basically its what your eye would see standing right in front of this magnificent creature. PERFECT.
If we get bored this fall...YEAH RIGHT, we should go check on the NE corner boys Pope. I bet there are some hawgs up tehre that need their pictures taken. Or....those Vulcan Mtn ones.

Tony has my sheep book with the "hall" rams. I'm willing to bet there is a MEGA ram up there somewhere... See, this is why I'm not going to get any late season deer hunting done this year. Distractions distractions.
Actually, I was thinking a little about SE Oregon for a trip. No way I'm paying for the gas alone on that trip...

I bet there is too if the cats haven'tgot them all. I no nothing of the SE corner boys. John Day has some big ones, but lots of private land issues with them. Might not be too bad if they now you are packing a camera versus a gun. I need to get one of these fancy pieces of glass bought before I do too much of anything. There's a wildlife refuge down there I want to hit in November as well for big bucks. Too bad November isn't two months long.
