Problems with Spot Hogg
« on: May 29, 2011, 01:27:51 PM »
I have a Spot Hogg sight on my Mathews DXT. It's probably a simple fix but I can't figure it out. My sight needs to sit lower but I cant get it any lower.  My sight is as low as I can get it and my first pin is in the middle of the sight. It's a 7-pin sight and the bottom 3 pins will be useless all bunched up at the bottom of the sight.

Sounds like you may have to adjust the rest/nock point. :dunno:

I would say something is not set up right.  I have the same sight and it shouldn't be like that.

How do I figure out what it is and go about fixing it without taking it into a shop?

Can you post a pic of your string showing peep and nock position?  With an arrow nocked sitting on the rest would be best.

close yor eyes come to full draw and find your anchor. once your all settled in open your eyes. move the peep accordingly. could be just a little bit.

Wrong.  You need to raise your peep, and lower your anchor point.  Try anchoring under your ear instead of in your ear. :chuckle:

I tried moving my peep around but If I move it up or down I can't look through it without having to extend my neck or bunch my head down... :dunno: :dunno: I'm getting frustrated  :chuckle:

First of all you need to wax that string.   :)

From the camera angle it appears your nock is a bit high and peep seems low.  In the pic with you drawing the bow it looks like it is close to where you should anchor but doesn't look like you can see through the peep there.

First thing to do is to make sure your nock height is correct.  Usually with the arrow 90 degrees from the string the center line of the arrow should run through the center of the berger hole.

Once you are there then draw the bow to anchor as someone said earlier and position the peep to your eye by moving it up or down the string and not move your hand up or down in order to see through the peep.

You should anchor the knuckle on your index finger right below your ear behind your jaw bone.
