I inherited the Demon and the Impala.  The Demon is one I regret trading away for paint and body work for one of the 67's, the most. (Yes, a premium laquer job with pearl in the top coats.  340 six pac, 3spd, dana 60 with 4.10:1 rear. I didn't know how rare it was. Stupid!

I bought some of the stangs, actually more of them, at auction and I parted them out. But referenced the ones I miss. The Cadi's were dad's over the years, but I drove them and had option on any of them to keep for my own.

I never sold anything for dirt cheap. Other than the Demon, I knew what I had and got at least market value for what-ever it was. The 65 Mustang convertible was one I completely restored in 1985. It ended up being my cash cow for the down payment on our first home in 1987.

I bought my first car from my Aunt for a steal.  68 Nova with a 307.  Was 20 yrs old and had 80 or 88 thousand miles on it.  My parents got tired of having it the driveway after I joined the Navy so I sold it.  Got a decent price but man, I wish I still had it.

When I was a kid, EVERYONE in my highschool drove some old thing that we salvaged, ignored the rust, dumped a huge motor in it (or if we couldn't afford that, just a 4 barrel carb and headers.. ), put on some mag wheels, and tried to see how many tickets we could get before they took our licenses away.
You don't see that much anymore.  I teach high school and I am sad to say that there is not one singe old soupled up Nova, Chevelle, Mustang, Camaro, Cougar, Bronco, Charger or Gran Torino in our parking lot.  In fact, I wonder what the hell they even do over in the shop for projects...

Bondo
Red Paint
A cool shift knob
Mag wheels
a chunk of something jammed up under the rear leaf springs to jack it up
Stereo and speakers
A Holley 4 barrel carb
Hooker Headers
Dual Glasspacks
Chrome Valve Covers
Chrome Air Fliter Cover tall enough so you "had to" cut a hole in your hood

Everyone stuck to this code.  We were purists.  The only excuse for not doing this was "I am still working on it"...

My 1st car was a 72 Nova...2 door. I hated that thing at the time. To have it back now I'd be very happy.
I had multiple Chevy trucks between 73-80 years. I loved those trucks. Every time I see a nice one or a nice old K-5 Blazer I drool a little.  I still own a 79 3/4 ton 4x4 Scottsdale that my grandfather bought brand new but it's in NY and I cringe to see what kind of shape it's in. Maybe one of these days I'll bring it out here. Maybe not though too...it might be better off sold for parts at this point.
My worst move ever was trading away my '77 Bronco. Last year of the cool old bodystyle. It had a 302 and auto trans with a shift kit, exhaust, small lift, etc. I loved that thing. I traded it away for a '72 F100 shorty with a 390 4 spd in it. I liked that truck too but it wasn't the Bronco. At the time I just needed/wanted a pickup.

Good for you for holding on to it man!  Mom sold my '66 when I joined the Army and went overseas...  Can't blame her; the rust was actually starting to eat through the bondo...

We even used house stereo speakers in the back seat to get the most volume we could! I grew up around all of these cars. My dad has been building street rods since 1962.  I knew what a 32 Ford 5 window coupe was before I was in the 7th grade. For those of you that know of some of the car clubs in the Puget Sound area.  My dad started "Henery's Haulers" 53-56 Ford F-100 pickup club in 1973. Now he is into the 40's fat fender Fords.

1973 Dodge dart sport 340/auto. (13 secs. flat STOCK!!)
1968 VW beetle, roller crank, close ratio 3rd and 4rth. 2 webers, 9000 rpm motor. 240 horse power, 9.7 secs. pulled the front wheels off the ground.
1972 F 250 390/4sp. posi. 12:00 15 tires, headers and 4 barrel.
1976 Bronco 302/auto great car!!!

First car was a 69 mustang coupe with a 302. Next was a 65 fairlane 500. Man I miss them both, I still have the stang but need money to finish since it got rearended back in school. The 65 is my uncles now I thi k still. I had a 90 lx notch back stang with a sweet 306 that could pull a tire I'll just say it would wrap the speed up to 160 rather quickly:) man I miss that one too

65 barracuda with the big window in the back.  273 4-speed with glass packs....apologize to anyone who had realitives in the McKenna home in the mid 80's as they didn't get much sleep during the weekend nights...my brother shot a big 3 point blacktail that we shoved into the back seat one October afternoon.that was quite a sight to see....sold it for $300....ouch

There's a couple fox body Mustangs at my kid's high school- Pretty sweet. Rice burnin tuners I could care less about, but now there are some hopped up diesel trucks too. Both of my boys drive 4x4 pickups. One is lifted.  At my son's baseball game last week, a visiting player drove a nice old Dodge Dart Swinger with a pretty nice sounding small block in it. Cool to see that there are some kids willing to drive something old enough to be carburated and doesn't have power windows.

I drove a '66 Mustang.  Picked it up in 1988 for $1,200 and spent most of my Junior year boring out and building a 302 (bored .30 over), Edlebrock intake, Holley Doublepumper (of course), new cam, Hooker headers (of course), etc...
I bondo'ed over the rust (was bad around all 4 fenders and you could see through the floor in the back seat), painted it primer gray, put on some chrome mags, jacked it up in the back, affixed dual glasspacks (it already had a stereo with a tape deck in it), and I was ready to go.
Drove it until halfway through my first year of college when that souped-up engine started eating the gears in that poor little C4 tranny, one gear at a time.  When all I had left was reverse, I parked it and joined the Army. 
When my Mom sold it, the kid that bought it said he was buying "The fastest small block in town-in reverse".
While I was stationed in Panama I got a letter from the state demanding that I show up for a hearing to determine whether or not I could keep my drivers license ( I was 19 years old, I had 6 tickets-2 neg driving, 4 speeding).  I wrote them a letter telling them that I was overseas and couldn't make my hearing, so they just put me on "probation".  That two years I spent "off  the record" saved my driving priviledges...

i remember going to court for speeding in my camaro trying to get it reduced and the judge asked what kind of car it was when i told him he then asked just how far i could smoke the tires i told him not very far i just put new tires on it :chuckle:he laughed then cut ticket in half

That was a cool judge.  My first time in court the judge told me "I am going to reduce this reckless driving ticket to neg driving....ONCE.  Do you understand me?  ONCE.  After this, if I ever see you in here again for anything traffic, I am going to throw the book at you.  Understand?"

I understood. 

I didn't stop getting tickets, but after that I never requested a court date.  I literally snuck into the courthouse and ran down to the auditor to pay my ticket.  I didn't want to risk running into the judge in the hallway and him asking me what I was doing there...
