"My cottontail Distress call must sound like a fawn bleat 'cuz several times while trying to call coyotes, I've had Mule Deer come in to the call."

Same here. Mama mule deer came in all huffy and looking to kick some coyote butt I think while I was out calling a couple of times.

I watched that video and I must admit I wasn't too impressed. Looked more like the buck just wondered by while the guy was rattling and making the noise. But oh well, if the guy is having fun, what the heck.

My thoughts as I watched it too.  Looked like the deer would have been there anyway.  Nice video of the deer, though.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

You guys might be right but I saw it differently.  That buck around 40 seconds was definitely coming closer and was interested.  Tail flicking and shaking his head, he was agitated.  Maybe expecting them to come to the call like a rutting elk is unrealistic.  Especially for a smaller buck like the one in the video. he seemed to loose his nerve around 2 minutes but was not skittish at all.  Who knows what time of year it was also. Pre rut, rut, post rut all could make quite a difference.  If he was not running the other way or even concerned I would say it is definitely worth trying.

I filmed this video early december. It was during the late season Oregon archery hunt. I know its hard to tell in the video but he did get worked up. I called him out of a timber patch across the clear cut and had a easy 40 yard shot at him. I never would of had that oppertun... if it wasn't for the calling and using the horns. I passed on the shot because of his size. I was looking for a little better deer. We have rattled and called in a number of bucks over the years. It definately does work at times and is a great weapon to use when tring to hunt these ghost. On another note I have also watched deer spook because of the calling and rattling. Right place rite time is what it boils down I guess
